How do I stop wanting sex all the time and acting on it?
I think the first thing you need to figure out is whether this is actually a sexual addiction or some other type of sexual disorder. There's a quick and easy online test that you can take which will be able to tell you whether or not you're sexually addicted. The Sexual Addiction Screening Test can be found on either of two (2) websites:
Sex Help
www.sexhelp.com/
Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health
www.sash.net/
On the Home Page of either site, right at the top of the page, you will see the question, "Am I A Sex Addict?" If you will click on that question, the test will come up for you. This thing can be taken right there online, and then submitted for scoring. In just a few seconds, you'll have your answer. Generally, a score of 11 or higher indicates that a sexual addiction is present.
If the test indicates that sexual addiction is an issue for you, come on back to this site and let us know. We will then be able to provide you with some referrals to help you get started on a recovery program for yourself, assuming that is what you'd like to do. Good luck to you, and we'll be waiting to hear back from you, one way or the other.
i am a addict to my was drugs but addiction is addiction what helps me is talking about it find a group it has help me get to some core issues.
Thanks, that's exactly what I'm trying to do. My addiction to sex has honestly taken over my life. I just need someone to talk to, so when I get an urge or a craving I can talk to someone and maybe curve it without doing something.
I know how you feel my addiction did the same for me i used to lived and lived to use i still get cravings well if you need someone to talk to i am here for you.
Thanks I really appreciate it. I realized yesterday how bad my addiction was and decided I need to do something about it. So do you still have any problems with the addiction?
yes i do even though i am in recovery i still have addict tendency if i am not careful i will trade on addiction for another. as addicts we are addicted to what ever makes us feel good.
How long have you been recovering? Does it get easier after awhile?
i have been in recovery for 9 months yes but i have to be careful i have to keep my gaurd up because addiction is a disease a cunning one if i start slacking off my disease will tell me i am fine then that is it back to the races. you just got to remember that you will always be an addict. you can put it in remisson but it will always be there waiting for you to slip up.
